CANCER AND NUTRITION THERAPY
Advanced Training: Certified Oncology Nutrition Consultant (ONC)
Lauren is a Certified Oncology Nutrition Consultant through the Oncology Nutrition Institute (ONI) — a globally respected, evidence-based certification created by Dr. Nasha Winters, ND, FABNO, and Jess Higgins Kelley, MNT, pioneers in the field of metabolic and integrative oncology.
Dr. Nasha Winters is a board-certified naturopathic doctor and Fellow of the American Board of Naturopathic Oncology. She is internationally known for her groundbreaking work in terrain-based, whole-systems approaches to cancer care and co-author of The Metabolic Approach to Cancer. Jess Higgins Kelley is a certified nutrition therapist and educator who has trained thousands of professionals worldwide in applying functional nutrition to complex chronic illness, cancer, and immune dysfunction.
Together, they developed ONI’s certification program to address a major gap in conventional medical and nutrition training: how to support the biological terrain of the body; not just treat symptoms or target disease.
Unlike standard clinical education, this advanced training dives deep into:
- The 10 hallmarks of cancer terrain (immune, metabolic, inflammatory, hormonal, digestive, etc.) and how they apply to chronic health issues far beyond cancer.
- How to assess and work with functional lab data to identify metabolic dysfunction and inflammatory patterns.
- The role of nutrition, detoxification, and environmental influences in restoring balance to the body’s terrain and its foundational ecosystem.
- A holistic understanding of the mitochondria, immune system, and metabolism that bridges cutting-edge science with root-cause healing.
This knowledge enhances every aspect of Lauren’s work, whether a client is navigating cancer, managing autoimmune disease, struggling with chronic fatigue, or simply seeking long-term vitality. The ONI approach helps translate complexity into clear, strategic, and compassionate care; empowering clients to take an active role in reshaping their health from the inside out.
